Why Can't I Quick Study Grammar Points?

Why is there no quick-study for grammar points?

This is essentially because we only have a limited number (12) of sentences available for each grammar point. With this amount, you should be able to drill a given point to mastery within the SRS system without ever simply memorizing sentences (instead of actually applying the grammar).

If we let you quick-study from the same sentence pool, you'd quickly run into this exact issue of simply memorizing the sentences, and not really testing yourself on the grammar.

And it also wouldn't do to let you use any old sentence in our database for grammar SRS, because there's a certain amount of work that needs to happen behind the scenes first...

Why only 12 sentences? Just add more!

Grammar SRS sentences take quite some work on our end to get ready! We:

  • b

Tailor the vocabulary based on where the point is

  • b

Make sure all of the words parse correctly

  • b

    Pick the blank(s)

  • b

(A lot of the time) make prompts and fake blocks tailored to each individual sentence

  • b

Add accepted and shake answers for fill in the blank

  • b

Add all accepted sentence patterns for unscramble

Many sentences come from/are written for the grammar article, but many of them are also modified, or made entirely new for the SRS!

All in all, 12 sentences per point allows us to give you a good chunk for the grammar SRS, while also allowing us to maintain a good pace forward, ensuring we can continue to release new adventure track content for you bi-weekly!
