How can I import a list of words or kanji to study?

Importing vocabulary/kanji to study on MaruMori is super easy! To get started, just head to this page here:

https://marumori.io/tools/imports

And follow the import instructions!

This lets you import vocab/kanji as either "known" (so they don't show up in your lessons and reviews), or as a custom study list!

It also lets you select an existing (Personal) Study List to add your new items to.

How does the import work exactly?

Well, there are two areas where you can type or copy paste a list of kanji and vocabulary respectively.

You can separate the different entries by a new line (so pressing ENTER), " ," , " ;" or a tab .

Once you submit your entries, the parser will then try to match the vocabulary entries to the most likely dictionary entries. In some cases (like 人), it could be multiple entries, and it just picks the one we've told it to take. Because of that, you might want to double-check your new list after the import and remove/manually add different dictionary entries if needed!

If something has no matches at all, it will tell you after the import is finished. Typically, this is due to something being in a form different from how we have it in the dictionary. For example, a kana-only version versus a kanji version.
